The LEGION ACT is now law! What does this mean?
The U.S. Congress recognizes that the United States has been involved in war since December 7, 1941. You may read the entire text of the bill here: https://www.congress.gov/116/bills/s504/BILLS-116s504enr.pdf The act outlines all of the conflicts that occurred after World War II.
With the eligibility dates now, those designated as “peacetime” veterans is no longer the case. The VA keeps track of the number of veterans in each era. As of September 30, 2018, the veteran population in Michigan designated as peacetime is 157,618.
Sharpen your pencils and fill out those applications, in the era portion of the application, write in “other conflict” until new applications can be produced.
Auxiliary - Spouse of a Legion or S.A.L. member.
Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.) -
All male descendants, adopted sons, step-sons of American Legion members are eligible.
